World Blood Donor Day at CORDIA

Give Blood – Save Lives

June 14 is dedicated to World Blood Donor Day, a day that honors the selfless contribution of voluntary blood donors across the globe. Every drop of blood can make a difference for someone in urgent need, whether it’s accident victims, surgical patients, cancer patients, or individuals with chronic conditions such as thalassemia.

To mark this important occasion, CORDIA organized and carried out a voluntary blood donation drive on June 12, in collaboration with Evangelismos Hospital.

Employees from all our group companies (ESA Security, Skymar, and Imagin) participated in this act of solidarity, once again proving that giving is an essential part of who we are.

Why Blood Donation Matters

Voluntary blood donation is a cornerstone of the modern healthcare system. It ensures that hospitals have access to a safe and sufficient blood supply, not only in emergencies but also for ongoing medical treatments.

In Greece, the need for blood remains significant:

  • More than 120,000 units of blood are needed annually for patients with thalassemia alone.
  • Hospitals face frequent shortages, especially during the summer months when demand increases and donations decline.
  • Although more than 500,000 blood donations are made each year, a large percentage still comes from replacement donors (family/friends of patients), rather than regular voluntary donors, who provide the safest and most sustainable solution.

This is why initiatives like ours are so important. They promote a culture of giving and raise awareness about the vital importance of blood donation.

An Act of Giving That Unites Us

At CORDIA, social responsibility is an integral part of our philosophy. We believe that giving back to the community is a shared duty and that even the simplest actions can have the power to transform lives.

A heartfelt thank you to all the employees who participated in the blood drive. Your act truly saves lives and sends a powerful message of hope and solidarity. We are proud to stand united not just as colleagues, but as active members of a society that cares and gives.
